Andromeda Botanic Gardens boast one of the most extensive collections of tropical plants in Barbados (over six hundred different types). Most of our collection is available for viewing along the pleasant trails of our beautifully landscaped gardens on any day of the week. We are especially proud of or extensive collections of Orchids, Heliconias and Palms.

Andromeda also boast a good collection of ferns, bromeliads, hibiscus, crotons, gingers, xerophytes (drought tolerant plants) and aquatic plants to mention a few. We are also in the process of building a medicinal plants collection. Some of our main collections will be featured on this site. Included will be some information on their taxonomy (something about their plant family and distribution), general characteristics, their ethnobotany (how the plants are traditionally used), propagation and maintenance.
